As we move into week 12 of the regular season, the whispers about Jon Gray are getting louder and louder. After a very tough April where he posted a 10.70 ERA in four starts, he has been outstanding. In the 10 outings since, Gray has posted a 2.74 ERA, 2.8/1 K/BB ratio, and has averaged over six innings per start. The one worry most people have had about him, a low strikeout rate, have subsided somewhat after his last two starts in which he has struck out 17 hitters. Rockies starting pitchers as a whole have been easily the worst group in the National League this season, so it’s understandable to want to see Gray, who was ranked the 24th best prospect in baseball by Baseball America, 16th by MLB.com, and 13th by Baseball Prospectus. Is this the week that Gray finally makes his debut? Here’s a look ahead to week 12 of the regular season.
